Jonathan Staite, Surrey - 22nd June 2011 Frida and Richard, good afternoon
Petros Balomenos, Land Rover's Rebuild - repairs Athens, Greece - 8th January 2011 4.0 V8 Stripped Engine - ductile iron flanged liners Dear Miss Frida The following photograph is a 4.0L Petrol engine we buy from yours.
We put this engine to a Defender 110' years 1989 who was a 3.5L Petrol twin carb. The cliend is to hapy with the performance off his car and he wands to thank you for the good job you made for his engine. Also our shop and the tecnicians would like to thank you for the very good job you made to all the engine that we buy from yours. Best regards Brian, Co Armagh, Northern Ireland. 22nd September 2010 4.6V8 stripped engine Ductile iron flanged liners This is just a short message to thank you for the brilliant service I received when I purchased the above reconditioned engine. It arrived when I was told to my installer, with all the gaskets, oil and extras I ordered. Once installed it runs quiet, the car drives like new and the economy has improved from 12mpg to 20mpg, which as an average mpg with a car that runs on LPG makes it a very cheap Range Rover to run. The power is really good, much better than the original engine and its smooth and effortless. I would recommend a turner engine to any serious Landrover owner. My car is refurbished and with the engine now installed it is back to factory condition both mechanically and cosmetically, in fact now its better than new mechanical condition. I will gladly speak to any prospective purchasers to endorse your engines in Northern Ireland, just contact me by email so I can agree to my details being passed on Best Regards Steve Wells, Herts -28th May 2009 4.6V8 ductile iron flanged linered block casting Hi, just to let you know we have achieved our aim of running an 8 second pass using a Rover V8 engine. Your cylinder block with Ductile iron liners has held up to the extreme pressures of a supercharger and methanol fuel and we are very pleased with it. We ran a best of 8.93 @ 146 mph in the 1/4 mile and reached 119.87mph in 5.59 seconds to the 1/8 mile, with more to come. We think this is the first '8' from a rover without nitrous injection. More details can be found on our web site www.teamorange.org.uk Steve Wells
Nicholas Guy Kendal Webb-27 January 2009 4.0 V8 stripped engine - gasflowed heads Hi I dont know if you remember me but I bought a 4 litre V8 from you way back in July 2005 for my 1995 discovery. It has now done 121,000 miles since it was fitted and it's still running as sweetly as ever! It has spent its entire life pulling a heavy trailer and when it is fully laden the gross weight is often near the maximum of 3.5 tons (plus of course the car at 2100kg and my fat labrador!) There are no significant oil leaks and obviously as you've never heard from me since I bought it I havent had any problems whatso-ever!
Robin Berry - 17 December 2008 4.6 V8 stripped engine - gasflowed heads, ductil iron flanged liners Dear Richard and Frida, The new motor has now done just on 5000 miles since Jim finally got it up and running, so it's probably safe to speak out......... Thanks folks - it's everything I thought I could only dream about on a P38! Settled down well and runs like silk; responsive (alive almost) yet returns 20+ PG overall. I really am impressed with both the engineering and the brilliant, no-nonsense service you provided. I would really like to say "I'll be back", but hopefully this motor will see me out now! So, many thanks from a well satisfied customer. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you both. Best regards,

B Hoyland - 30th October 2008 After driving "Older" Discos for 20yrs, instead of upgrading in 2003 I decided to wait for my shares to mature in 2008, I patiently waited. In March i bought my "dream machine" an 04 Discovery V8 ES Premium with every possible extra...fully loaded, Rangey wheels. Play station, full leather seats, wood Dash, sat nav, Harman Kardon Hi-FI and £2700 worth of state of the Art L.P.G Injection. For 6 weeks i was in Heaven. She then aquired a "Clicking/ticking sound that over a month or so got so bad it was attracting attention. I had it checked by every "Expert around" and spent about £1500 having new tappets ,oil pump ,Cam Shaft etc but she came back the same......I was broken hearted and even stopped driving her or even cleaning her. After two months searching the net for an answer I came across your website and was very impressed. My mechanic called and after a conversation with Frida, (on putting down the phone he said ,"That Girl Knows what she,s talking about") and decided even though it had only done 42000 it must be the Liners. Against every "Expert" saying its wrong, he ordered the Engine around 2.30pm. It arrived at 08.00am the next morning, and was fitted in three days. My new engine has now done 200 miles so this covers up to now but I,m confident that all will be well, and is almost impossible to hear, the quietest V8 in the Country more responsive and more MPG. I love her again, She is Polished and shiny and I am so happy. Every aspect, from my first conversation with Frida to typing this has been Perfect. I know I have a state of the Art Engine, made with state of the art machinery used by Professionals. I Cannot thank you enough. Yours Most Sincerely. Brian Hoyland PS..I totally agree with Jak Haughton. You ought to Design a Badge so other people can see that we have "Speciality Engines " fitted!!!!!! Iain Pasco - 3rd September 2008 4.6V8 stripped engine - new block Just a polite mail to say im glad i got the engine from you guys. It runs a treat and sounds lovely. Just completed my annual family camping holiday without any trouble @ all, I expect with regular servicing it will last well beyond the 12mnths guarantee period. Keep up the good work Yours sincerely Iain Jak Haughton - 24th March 2008 4.0 V8 Stripped Engine - ductile iron flanged liners Dear Sirs, I am writing to express my thanks for your prompt service in replacing the engine for my beloved Range Rover 4.0 SE. The combination of your speed and efficiency and that of Kingsley Cross Country has ensured that my 'baby' is now purring like a good 'un. My only regret is that you do not supply a badge to stick on the back so that everyone can see the quality as it passes them by! Alan Cloke, Devon - 15th February 2008 4.0 V8 Petrol Engine, gasflowed heads, ductile iron flanged liners Just a note to thank you for supplying my new V-8 engine. I have to say that not only am I very pleased with the way the new engine runs I have been immensely impressed with the knowledge and efficiency with which the whole process was carried out. Its refreshing to find a team of people who are not only committed to producing an absolutely first class product, but also care passionately about giving the very best customer service possible. Thanks again. Alan Steve Wells, Herts -12th December 2007 4.6V8 ductile iron flanged linered block casting Hi, We bought a 4.6 ltr cylinder block with ductile liners from you at the end of 2005. We fitted it in our Ford Popular Dragster and ran a best of 9.70 secs at 129 mph using super unleaded. For 2007 we changed to methanol and ran a best of 9.22 at 139.84 mph, which is as far as we know the fastest a Rover engined dragster has ever run the 1/4 mile without nitrous oxide assistance. For 2008 we are raising the compression with the hope of running high 8 seconds. Thanks for the great block. I have attached a picture. Steve Wells www.teamorange.org.uk
Francis Thom - 9th October 2007 4.0L V8 Stripped Engine - Ductile iron flanged liners The only delay in getting my V8 Discovery back on the road after the block cracked (at 164000-miles) was due to Land Rover's delays in supplying a new radiator. I drive my car for a living (between 20000 and 35000 miles a year) and I have a great team of engineers (Doug Dransfield, Stocksbridge , UK ) to maintain it. Frida, your knowledge of engines, the engineering team you have in your workshops and the phenomenal speed you had the engine delivered to Doug's (Thursday PM we spoke on the phone, Friday the engine was being checked and packaged, Monday Doug started work) is testament to a quality of service others can only strive to achieve – when will you start supplying radiators? A big THANK YOU to all at Turner Engineering, a great team effort! Kind Regards, Tom Sperrey - 18th October 2006 Frida, There are some suppliers that within five minutes of contacting them, give a warm feeling that tells you this transaction will go well. You're one of them. You did exactly what you said you'd do. My engine has now done 1,000 miles, had an oil change at 500 and is running as sweet as a nut (how nice to get rid of that tappet clatter on startup!). Thanks, Frida. Ruby's Garage, Cornwall - 6th March 2006 4.6 V8 Petrol Engine, gasflowed heads, ductile iron flanged liners A 1995 Range Rover 4.6 HSE (139.000 miles) was brought to us with overheating/coolant loss problems. Our diagnosis was cracked block but the customer asked for the cylinder heads to be removed to check the gaskets. No visible signs of failure could be found. Having dealt with Turner Engineering for many years we sought their advice. Frida and Richard could not have been more helpful giving advice to both ourselves and directly to our customer. It was decided to install and exchange engine fitted with gasflowed heads and ductile liners to the block casting. The engine arrived 72 hours after ordering and was extremely well presented. All gaskets needed were supplied along with two 5 litre cans of engine oil. It was spotlessly clean with clear concise instructions detailing almost any problem that could occur whilst rebuilding. Any other problems during the rebuild were quickly resolved over the phone by the staff at Turner Engineering with no hint of us ‘being a nuisance'. In fact they seemed pleased that we consulted with them rather than went ahead and got it wrong! The fitting of this engine has transformed an otherwise tired vehicle. It now pulls crisply and cleanly from quite low revs giving the impression of a much larger engine under the bonnet than it actually is. Low down torque is vastly improved, with 70mph being achieved at 1700 rpm whilst just feathering the throttle pedal. Time will tell but we consider an improvement in fuel economy will also result. Although not the cheapest on the market we consider this to be the only cure for the notorious V8 cracked block problem. The relative small extra charge for the fitting of gasflowed heads is well worth considering for the vast improvement it achieves. Congratulations to Frida and Richard and all at Turner Engineering for an excellent product and superb customer service. Steve Oldbury Mark Swadling - 4th March 2006 pair V8 cylinder heads Hi Just to say thanks for the V8 Cylinder heads I picked up from you before xmas . The engine is running spot on . Kind Regards Malcolm Hurd - M&D Motors November 2005 3.9 V8 performance cylinder heads Since fitting a pair of performance gasflowed cylinder heads to my own 3.9 V8 Classic Range Rover (1990) the overall performance has been transformed. Hill climbing noticeably improved and also improved fuel economy which justifies the extra cost. The engine performs willingly with less throttle input. The engine was fitted with a new stock camshaft and timing equipment at the same time and has covered 139.000 miles. I would not hesitate recommending the performance version to my customers.
