Motocross & Speedway

James Turner

Turner Engineering as an engineering company has a background of interest in motorsport at a personal level. We have followed Formula 1, Cart, Superbikes, Motocross and Speedway for a number of years and attended many major motorsport events, including the Indianapolis 500 on a number of occasions. As a result of the television coverage particularly on Sky Sports this offers an excellent opportunity to promote Turner Engineering at an international level.

Motocross

Motocross has been a passion of Richard Turner since his younger days and he is still riding today although not competitively. These days he is the mechanic at race meetings for his son James and his main interest is in bike setup and tuning.

2009 season sofar has seen several excellent results. A 5th overal in the A group at Rusper at a very wet and muddy meeting. A 4th overal at Toddington and a 3rd overal at the Rusper meeting in July.

2008 season, towards the end a number of very succesful results were achieved with James coming third overall in one meeting and a week later at the next meeting winning his class out right. Something to build on for next season.

Eastbourne Eagles Speedway

We can honestly say that some of the Speedway matches that we have attended, including the British Grand Prix at Cardiff Millenium Stadium rank as some of the best and most exciting motorsport events of the current era. Speedway certainly has the potential to recapture the 80.000 + audiences that were attracted to the sport in it's earlier days and is regarded by many as the best kept secret in motorsport.

Sky Sports Television coverage of Speedway really captured our imagination and made us realise that there is a world of motorsport that companies such as ourselves can become actively involved in as sponsors without having to be a large international corporation.

For the 2009 season the Eastbourne Eagles have retained the services of Cameron Woodward who is again riding in the main body of the team this season.

A promising young up and coming Australian rider who proved his worth last year. Cameron will also be riding in Sweden and Poland this season.

Our other sponsored rider for the 2008 season is again Andrew Moore who has moved to the Scunthorpe Scorpions Premier League team this season and to moved to the Stoke Potters half way through the season. His last year's season average unfortunately too high to secure another Elite League place this season. Andrew is a firm favourite with the crowd and has a great future in speedway. Andrew previously rode for the Swindon Robins in 2007 and the Eastbourne Eagles in 2006 and 2005 and before that in the Premier League for Sheffield. He has won the UK under 21 Grass track championship and has ridden in the under 21 Great Britain Speedway team. He also made his British Championship debut at Oxford in 2005.
